The University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) hosted a workshop on "Preparation for Accreditation: Documentation and Evidence" on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in the Ratnagarva Tahmina Rahman Multipurpose Hall, UITS. This workshop is organized by the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) in collaboration with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS). Professor Dr. S. M. Kabir, an esteemed member of the BAC, presided over the workshop. Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, the Honorable Chairman of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of UITS, also graced the event as the special guest.

In his address as Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed emphasized the importance of quality education in personal and societal development. He highlighted the BAC's mission to ensure that educational institutions provide high-quality education and produce graduates capable of contributing effectively to the nation. He expressed gratitude to all involved in organizing and participating in the workshop.

In his special address, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in achieving excellence in higher education and improving its quality. He emphasized that accreditation serves as a crucial catalyst for continuous improvement in educational institutions, encompassing aspects such as teaching, learning, research, innovation, student support, and administrative efficiency. He expressed confidence that the workshop would equip participants with the necessary knowledge to successfully navigate the accreditation process.

Professor Dr. S.M. Kabir delivered the keynote address, followed by a question-and-answer session with the faculty members. Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain, Director of IQAC, delivered the welcome address. Other distinguished attendees included Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Treasurer, UITS; Professor A. N. M. Shareef, Controller of Examinations; Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering; Dr. Farooq Hossan, Dean of the Faculty of Business; Syeda Afsana Ferdousi, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; Dr. Md. Nahidul Islam, Dean (Acting) of the Faculty of LAW; Head of Department from Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Information Technology(IT), Civil Engineering (CE), EEE, Pharmacy, Business Studies, English, Law, Social Science Department; and 110 faculty members. Professor Nasir Uddin Ahammed, Director (Accreditation) of the BAC, delivered the concluding remarks. UITS IQAC Innovation Hub and iDEA Project Sign MoU to Strengthen National Startup Ecosystem

The University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Innovation Hub (iHUB) and the Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) Project under the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote early-stage startups and advance a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. The MOU Signing Ceremony took place on 7 December 2025 at the ICT Division.

The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of UITS, and Murtuza Zulkar Nain Noman, Project Director (Joint Secretary) of the iDEA Project. They were joined by senior officials, including Mohammad Aminul Islam Khan, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Project Director, and Siddhartho Goswami, Operations Team Lead of the iDEA Project. Senior UITS representatives present at the event included Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Treasurer; Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Registrar; and Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain, Director of IQAC and Focal Point of the UITS Innovation Hub (iHUB).

The agreement outlines a detailed framework for implementing collaborative programs, capacity-building activities, grants, research initiatives, and startup support services over the coming year. Under the partnership, the iDEA Project and UITS IQAC Innovation Hub will jointly conduct startup bootcamps, training workshops, and seminars to build entrepreneurial capacity among early-stage innovators. Startups incubated through UITS IQAC iHUB will receive facilitated access to iDEAโ€™s pre-seed grant program, co-working space, legal and public relations support, and advanced prototyping facilities at the Fab Lab.

Both institutions will also coordinate national-level initiatives, including the iDEA Academic Program 101, dedicated mentorship sessions for founders, and industry-focused networking events to enhance collaboration between stakeholders across the startup ecosystem. This partnership aligns with the Government of Bangladeshโ€™s national priority to expand innovation-led growth and demonstrates the increasing importance of collaboration among academia, industry, and government. Both UITS and the iDEA Project expressed their commitment to supporting emerging entrepreneurs and enabling students and alumni to contribute to the next generation of technology-driven enterprises in the country.

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) organized a special seminar titled โ€œInstructions for Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS)โ€”2026โ€ on Monday, 17 November 2025 at the Ratnagarbha Tahmina Rahman Multipurpose Hall from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The seminar was distinguished by the presence of esteemed representatives from the Embassy of the Peopleโ€™s Republic of China in Bangladesh. Mr. Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counsellor, attended as the Special Guest, along with Mr. Xia Daojing, Cultural Third Secretary. The event also welcomed Dr. Maruf Mollah, former CGS scholar and Managing Director of BRCC, as an invited guest.

The session was graced by Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hashan Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of UITS, and Mr. Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Registrar of UITS. The seminar was presided over by Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain, Director of IQAC, added significant value to the program. During the event, comprehensive insights were provided on the prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship, including eligibility criteria, application procedures, required documentation, university selection approaches, and the key timelines for the CGS 2026 application cycle.

Students from various departments participated enthusiastically, reflecting a strong motivation toward pursuing higher education opportunities in China. Their active engagement underscored the growing global aspirations of UITS students. The seminar was held at a particularly historic moment, as Bangladesh and China approach the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. The program began with a tribute to the enduring friendship between the two nations through the rendition of the national anthems of Bangladesh and China.

UITS IQAC expressed heartfelt appreciation to all distinguished guests for their valuable contributions and extended gratitude to the participating students for their vibrant involvement. The seminar marked a significant milestone in UITSโ€™s ongoing efforts to strengthen global partnerships and support students in accessing internationally recognized scholarships.
